We are gearing up for a very exciting period in our long history and currently have an opening for a part-time, adjunct Math Instructor at our Portland campus. The role of this position is to help facilitate student learning in program areas through a variety of methodologies, types of assessment and, to facilitate an environment conducive to student success. Instructors, as a part of their professional responsibilities, are required to: * promote student retention and actively participate in campus activities designed to promote student success; * provide quality instruction; * meet course objectives, requirements, and student learning outcomes; * manage the classroom environment using a variety of teaching strategies; * provide formative and summative assessment of student learning; * facilitate a safe, positive and supportive learning environment; * support students in their efforts to succeed; * maintain accurate records and submit records and data by the due dates, compliance with FERPA, and other regulations; * participate in professional growth opportunities and support campus events; * model and employ professional and positive interpersonal relationships with colleagues and students; * work collaboratively with all members of the Heald-wide community; * serve on committees; * advise students; * participate in reviewing curriculum and course related conference calls; * provide feedback on textbooks for course adoptions; * respond to course/program surveys; and * adapt to changes in the work environment. Additionally, instructors are to: * demonstrate dependability; * communicate honestly, openly, and clearly with all stakeholders; * check and respond to email, use Peoplesoft Learning Management System for academic record keeping, and use the designated learning management system; * attend faculty seminars and training; * attend and participate in campus in-service training; * attend and/or participate in campus orientation and graduation programs; * maintain office hours for student support; and support and enforce campus policies To be successful in this role, you will need: * A bachelor degree in a field that is related to the course(s), which you will be teaching * A minimum of 1-3 years of related work experience relevant to the discipline that you will be teaching * Excellent communication skills * A desire to support and motivate students throughout their academic career at Heald Heald College is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
