THE POSITION

Washington County's Land Use & Transportation is now hiring two (2) Senior Project Managers to join the Capital Projects Services (CPS) Division!

The Position
The Senior Project Manager defines and coordinates work activities associated with project development and construction of assigned capital improvement projects within Washington County. These projects include roads, bikeways, bridges and sidewalks, and all are intended to improve safety, reduce bottlenecks, and address transportation demands. Successful candidates may manage all aspects or parts of transportation projects, including grant writing, budget development, scheduling, design, permitting, procurement; and construction activities such as monitoring project revenues and expenditures.


This is a hybrid position eligible to work remotely 2-3 days per week.

  • Experienced in reviewing plans, developing budgets, and leading a team to meet goals
  • Experienced with grant writing and applications
  • Organized, articulate, and attentive to detail
  • Comfortable with current technology and learning new software
  • Comfortable working independently
  • Interested in being involved with a variety of projects
  • Someone with an understanding of permits and regulations that impact transportation projects
  • Experienced with federal-aid and state funded transportation projects

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience:

  • A Bachelor's Degree in engineering, surveying, environmental, transportation planning, construction management, public administration, or a closely related field; AND Four (4) years of project management experience in roadway construction, bridge construction, utility construction, or infrastructure construction that included leading and managing discrete projects from initiation and planning through closure and evaluation; OR
  • Seven (7) years of professional level project management experience in roadway construction, bridge construction, utility construction, or infrastructure construction that included leading and managing discrete projects from initiation and planning through closure and evaluation may substitute for a Bachelor's Degree.
Additional Requirements
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and have an acceptable driving record per Washington County policy.

Selection Process

  4. Panel Interview(s): Our goal is to schedule panel interviews with candidates that meet the minimum qualifications and pass the SME review as soon as possible.
