Must have excellent computer skills in using data management programs. Must have the ability to change from one task to another without loss of efficiency or composure. Core Functions:Greets patient face-to-face in lobby and maintains respect for the patient by remaining discrete with introductions.Escorts patient to a clean exam room that is free of expired items, stocked appropriately and prepped according to the appointment type.Obtains and documents patient's vital signs and other pertinent information specific to the appointment type.Prepares patient for examination, recognizes changes in patient condition and promptly alerts the provider to any concerning changes in patient status.Assists providers with exams and procedures.Demonstrates current knowledge of limitations regarding scope of practice and communicates to physicians and leadership if a task is not within scope of practice or if training is needed to be proficient.Performs laboratory testing as applicable. Labels all specimens accurately and fills out appropriate lab and pathology requisitions.Accurately documents patient visits, telephone calls, and other encounters in Epic, ensuring other staff and physicians are able to follow the events with certainty.Ensures After Visit Summary is given to each patient.Coordinates the execution of all provider orders per department protocol.Communicates respectfully with co-workers to facilitate continuity of care and maintenance of steady patient progress through the department.Manages clinic related work queues and in-baskets per department standard work.Orders office supplies and maintains inventory in a cost effective manner.Verifies patient's insurance and acquires necessary prior insurance authorizations; Obtains accurate information for the required criteria for each individualized insurance plan to meet requirements and avoid patient denials; Understands and is able to communicate changes with 3rdparty payers; Advocates for the patient regarding medical necessity and relays the clinical information that is necessary to the insurance representatives; Faxes appropriate information to insurance for authorization.Able to schedule follow-up appointments and provide coverage for Intake Coordinator/Reception desk as needed.Perform a variety of clerical tasks including filing, copying, and faxing, scanning documents and sorting mail.Requests records from outside offices and processing records to be available, accurate, and complete prior to the patient's appointment.Answer a multi-line telephone and respond promptly to phone messages. Routes incoming calls correctly and in a timely fashion.Assists with maintaining clean exam rooms at all times and for assuring no items in the clinic are expired, including items in exam rooms and in storage rooms.
